Expected time of departure: 0600hrs
Depart for 5-6 hours overland journey to Sook, Nabawan, Sapulut to
reach the Security Gate of Maliau Basin Conservation Area (MBCA).
After dinner, enjoy a night night in search of nocturnal animals
near the Study Centre (subject to weather condition). Overnight at
Maliau Basin Study Centre (Hostel). (Lunch & Dinner)
6th August 2016
After breakfast, begin trekking through the rainforest for 7.5 km
trail to Nepenthes Camp. Have simple refreshment at the camp while
relaxing your muscles before we proceed for another 3 km trekking
to Takob - Akob Falls and Giluk Falls. Swimming and relaxing at
the waterfall (subject to time and weather condition) before
returning to Nepenthes Camp for overnight stay. (Breakfast, Lunch
& Dinner)
7th August 2016
Today, we trek for approximately 6.7 km to Ginseng Camp. Discover
the abundance of nepenthes plants along "Jalan Babi". Arrive at
Ginseng Campsite, relax and swim in the nearby cool forest
waterfall (subject to time and weather condition) and immerse
yourself to the sound of the wilderness. Stay overnight at Ginseng
Camp. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
8th August 2016
Resume trek to the spectacular seven tier Maliau Falls and enjoy a
refreshing swim. Trekking back to Ginseng Campsite for overnight
stay. The trek will be 4.8 km each way. (Breakfast, Lunch &
Dinner)
9th August 2016
After breakfast, leave Ginseng Campsite for the 9 km trek to
Agathis Camp. Pack up before transfer to Maliau Study Centre for
overnight stay (Hostel). (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
10th August 2016
After breakfast, walk on the Skybridge and visit the information
gallery before we depart Maliau Study Centre for Keningau, en
route to Kota Kinabalu.
