Day 1 Lahad Datu – Tabin Rainforest Resort (L/D)
Tabin Rainforest Resort is a new jungle lodge located on the northeast corner of Tabin Wildlife Reserve. The resort has 12 air-conditioned rooms and serves as a base for a range of activities including jungle trekking, wildlife watching and river cruises.
The resort is situated near both tropical rainforest and mangrove forest and a diverse range of animals are found in the area, including proboscis monkeys, orangutans, pygmy elephants, gibbons, slow loris, leopard cats, flying foxes, Irrawaddy dolphins and various birds including hornbills and the rare Bornean Ground cuckoo..
Pickup from Lahad Datu airport and transfer to Tabin Rainforest Resort by road (2.5 hours). Arrive at the resort and have lunch. After lunch go on an introductory walk around the lodge. Then go on a sunset wildlife watching cruise. Returnt to lodge and have dinner. After dinner on night safari drive to search for nocturnal wildlife in the forest near the resort. Overnight at Tabin Rainforest Resort
Day 2 Tabin Rainforest Resort (B/L/D)
Go on a morning walk near the resort. Visit a Ground Cuckoo hide and search for other birdlife. Return to resort for breakfast. After breakfast depart on a river cruise and explore the Segama river, mangroves and estuary. Look out for Irrawaddy dolphins which inhabit these nearshore waters and other wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, flying foxes and eagles. Head back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch go trekking in the nearby rainforest and visit mammal hide. Here you will be able to see our camera traps and view footage from the night before. Have some light refreshments in the hide before returning to the lodge. Rest of the day is free at leisure to relax or have a swim in the pool. After dinner head out on another night drive to look for civet cats, leopard carts, mouse deer and more.
Day 3 Tabin Rainforest Resort – Lahad Datu (B/L)
Go on an early morning walk to search for wildlife then return to the lodge for breakfast. Time to relax or swim in the pool. After lunch depart the lodge and travel by road to Lahad Datu for your late afternoon flight.
