Day 1 Kuching – Menyang Tais (L, D)
0800 hours pick up from hotel in Kuching and drive to Batang Ai reservoir. Along the way stop at Lachau Bazaar. Stroll around the shops and the small native market and have an early lunch in a local coffee shop. Then continue your journey, arriving at Batang Ai Lake around 1330-1400 hours. Then proceed by longboat (30 minutes) across the lake and upriver to Menyang Tais. Arrive at the Menyang Tais longhouse jetty. Then take a 15 minute walk to the longhouse. Upon arrival meet your Iban hosts. In the evening, relax on the ruai (common verandah) and spend time with the Iban people. Overnight in the longhouse.
Day 2 Menyang Tais–Tinting Empeliau–Menyang Tais (B, L, D)
Following breakfast walk to the river and continue upriver by longboat (subject to water level). Alternatively depart the longhouse for a long jungle hike. Our destination is Tinting Empeliau the lush forest where wild orangutans are occasionally spotted. Explore the rainforest and have lunch en route. Return to the longhouse mid-afternoon. Overnight in the longhouse.
Day 3 Menyang Tais – Kuching (B, L)
Following breakfast depart for a short jungle walk around the village
area or visit one of the local farms nearby. Return to the longhouse and
continue by longboat to Batang Ai reservoir jetty, arriving around
1030-1100 hours. Then travel overland back to Kuching with lunch
enroute. Arrive in Kuching approx. 1630 hours and be dropped off at your
hotel. Overnight at Riverside Majestic Hotel (or equivalent).

Tour & transfer, 2 nights in the longhouse, meals (B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner), English speaking guide. 6% Government Service Tax.

For example, some trekking activities are not possible during heavy rain or a thunderstorm. No refunds will be offered if a trek is cancelled or boat transfer delayed due to bad weather or river conditions.
