Upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu Airport by AK 1792 2005 hrs. Meet and transfer to The Jesselton Hotel for overnight.

12th Sep. Kota Kinabalu - Gaya Island Resort  (B)

Breakfast at hotel. 1345 hrs Meet and transfer to jetty. Depart at 1400 hrs scheduled boat to Gaya Island Resort for check-in. Rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight at Canopy Villa, Gaya Island Resort.

14th Sep. Gaya Island Resort - Kota Kinabalu (B)

Check-out from Gaya Island Resort and return boat transfer to jetty around 1300 hrs. Meet and transfer to The Jesselton Hotel. Rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight at The Jesselton Hotel.

15th Sep. Kinabalu Park Botanical (B, L)                                               

0830 hrs pick up at hotel. Depart Kota Kinabalu for the 2-hour (90 km) journey through breath taking scenery to Kinabalu Park. A guided nature walk with a park naturalist provides an introduction to this spectacular park. The park’s botanical garden has an impressive collection of mountain flora and showcases some of the many species of plants that can be found within the park. Lunch at a local restaurant and in the afternoon visit the National Park gallery providing more information on the park’s botanic diversity. Return to Kota Kinabalu in the afternoon. Overnight at The Jesselton Hotel.

16th Sep. Kota Kinabalu – Sandakan – Labuk Bay –  Rainforest Discovery Centre (B, L, D)

Pick up from hotel and transfer to Kota Kinbalu airport for MH2042 0700-0740 hrs. Pickup from Sandakan airport and proceed to Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary located about 38 kilometres (45-60 minutes drive) from Sandakan. This privately run sanctuary is located within an oil palm estate and offers a unique chance to see proboscis monkeys. These monkeys are wild but habituated and often get very close to visitors. The proboscis monkeys at Labuk Bay live in a fragmented habitat surrounded by an oil palm plantation. As there is insufficient food the monkeys receive a supplementary diet. The morning feeding time
commences at 0930 hrs when groups of proboscis monkeys from the nearby forest and mangroves head to the wooden platform for a free meal. The behavior (and diet) of these proboscis monkeys is very different from the monkeys that you will later see in the Menanggul River at Sukau. Labuk Bay offers a unique opportunity to get close to these normally shy creatures.   Around 1100 hrs depart the sanctuary and transfer to MY Nature Resort in Sepilok. Have lunch at MY Nature Resort. Then free at leisure to relax in the resort’s rainforest setting.

1600 hrs –  proceed to the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC), an education centre located within the Kabili Sepilok Forest Reserve. The focus of this excursion is to experience the rainforest from high. Arrive at the RDC and have a quick look at the visitor information centre before walking to the centre’s 147 metres long canopy walkway, which is up to 28 metres above the forest floor in places. The walkway and towers offer a unique way of seeing Sabah’s rainforest and are an excellent place for bird watching. Over 250 species of birds are found here. 1715-1730 hrs return to MY Nature Resort. Red giant flying squirrels are resident within the grounds of MY Nature Resort. They come out almost every night but sightings are not guaranteed. Head to the
platform near the restaurant. Resort staff will point out which trees the squirrels sleep in and let you know when they start to come out of their hiding places. If you are lucky watch the giant squirrels emerge from their nests and glide across the sky. Dinner and overnight at MY Nature Resort.

17th Sep. Sepilok – Kinabatangan River – Abai (B, L, D)

After breakfast, check-out and proceed to the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary where captive orangutans are reintroduced into the wild.  You will be able to observe them at their feeding stations in the rainforest and at the nursery (if open). Watch the feeding session at 1000 hours. Then  proceed to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC). This centre rescues captured sun bears and is involved in sun bear conservation, welfare rehabilitation and education. Over 30 sun bears live at the centre in the bear house and outdoor enclosures.

1100-1115 hrs depart Sepilok and proceed to the jetty in Sandakan. 1145 –1200 hrs depart for a 1-hour boat cruise up the Lower Kinabatangan River, passing pristine mangrove forests and searching for wildlife. Arrive at Abai Jungle Lodge, check-in and have lunch. Free to relax or explore the surrounding area on the nature boardwalk. 1630 hours go on a cruise in search of proboscis monkeys, birds, reptiles and other wildlife. As night falls witness the glittering of fireflies on the mangrove trees. Return to the lodge for dinner.  After dinner, go on a guided night walk around the Lodge’s nature boardwalk and search for insects, birds and other wildlife. Overnight at the Abai Jungle Lodge.

18th Sep. Pitas Lake – Abai – Sukau (B, L, D)

0630 hrs – depart on a boat trip for bird watching and wildlife viewing at the nearby Pitas Lake. Return to lodge around 0800 hrs and have breakfast. After breakfast visit the nearby Abai village and participate in a tree planting project. Enjoy a local-style lunch prepared and served by the villagers. After lunch, cruise upriver to Sukau, searching for wildlife along the way. Arrive Sukau and check-in to Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. 1630 hours go on a river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to the Menanggul River in search of proboscis monkeys, birds and other wildlife. Return to the lodge for dinner. Overnight at the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge.

19th Sep. Sukau – Abai – Sandakan - Brunei (B, L)

After breakfast depart the lodge at 0700 hrs and return to Sandakan by
boat. The 2½ hour journey offers another chance to see wildlife. Around
0830 hrs stop at Abai Jungle Lodge for a short break before continuing
your journey downriver. Arrive at Sandakan jetty and proceed to Sandakan
airport for flight MH2047 (Dep 1400, Arr 1445) to Kota Kinabalu (BKI)
and connect to Bandar Sri Begawan (BWN) on Royal Brunei BI 826 (Dep
1640, Arr 1720). Meet and transfer to Palm Garden Hotel for overnight.

20th Sep. Capital city and Water Village tour  (B, L)

The tour begins with pick up from your hotel. Highlights include visits
to the Morning Market, Malay Technology Museum, Sultan Omar Ali
Saifuddien Mosque, Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque and photo stop at the
entrance of the biggest residential palace in the World – Istana Nurul
Iman which is the official residence of His Majesty The Sultan of Negara
Brunei Darussalam. Lunch at a local restaurant included.

After lunch, continue with visit to the Royal Regalia Museum which was
built in 1992 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty’s The
Sultan of Brunei accession to the throne in 1967. The museum houses a
collection of royal paraphernalia and also an exhibition on the
Constitution of the nation.

After that, proceed on a scenic boat ride around the biggest Malay Water
Village in the world and a visit to a local home where you can witness
the daily livelihood of a typical villagers living in houses on stilts
on Brunei River. Local refreshments will be served. Visit Yayasan
Shopping Complex before transfer back to your hotel. Overnight at Palm
Garden Hotel.


* Non-Muslims are not allowed to enter the mosques on Thursdays, Fridays and during any religious ceremonies and  the tour will only cover the garden area and compound of the two mosques during such events.

** For Friday departure, lunch will be arranged either at  11.00 am or after 2.00 pm as all business premises are closed from 12.00 Noon until 2.00 pm during Friday Prayer time.

21st Sep. Brunei – Miri – Mulu National Park – Deer & Lang Caves  (B)

0430 hrs Take early morning pickup from hotel and depart overland Brunei-Malaysia border and continue to Miri airport. Catch the morning flight into Mulu National Park MH3630 0925-0955 hrs.  Arrive Mulu airport and transfer to the park accommodation for check in. Free at leisure to explore the Mulu Park’s interpretation centre and have lunch (on own account). 1415 hrs depart the park HQ and begin a scenic 3 km plankwalk through primary rainforest to the entrance of Deer Cave. Deer Cave is the world’s largest cave passage. Its scale its awesome and you are in no doubt how huge it is when you arrive at the cave entrance. The entrance of the cave is 150 m wide and 120 m high. Nowhere in this massive cave is the roof less than 90 m high. The cave
has a moon-like landscape and from one vantage point, a perfect profile of President Lincoln can be observed. Next to Deer Cave is Langs Cave. The stalactites and stalagmites inside this cave are representative of the very best limestone formations in the park. After viewing the two caves, proceed to the Bat Observatory outside Deer Cave. Most evenings at sundown, a spectacular exodus of about 2 million of bats can be observed as they leave the cave in search of food. Then trek back to the park HQ by torchlight and return to accommodation – Rainforest Lodge.

22nd Sep. Clearwater & Wind Caves – Kuching (B, L)

0845 hrs depart the park HQ and proceed by longboat upriver to Wind Cave with its impressive ‘King’s Chamber’. Here, stalactites and stalagmites with delicate lace-like patterns are found. A short walk along a plankwalk next to the limestone cliff followed by a climb up approximately 250 concrete steps and you arrive at the entrance to Clearwater Cave. Like most caves in Mulu, Clearwater Cave provides a habitat for unique species of plants.  One of these, the one-leafed plant can only be found at Mulu. Photo-sensitive algae grow on certain rocks and produce needle-like formations that point towards the source
of light. Near Clearwater Cave there is a wonderful swimming area shaded by giant rainforest trees. Enjoy a simple picnic or packed lunch. Drop off at Mulu airport for departure flight to Kuching by MH3822 1310-1445 hrs. Arrive Kuching airport and transfer to The Pullman Hotel for overnight.

23rd Sep. Semenggoh Orangutan Centre  (B)

0800 hours pick up from hotel. Located 24 kilometres from the centre of Kuching, the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre provides an excellent opportunity to view semi-wild orangutans in a natural setting.  This orangutan rehabilitation centre receives orphaned or rescued orangutans and trains them to survive in the wild. Over 20 orangutans live in forest within the Semenggoh nature reserve and they often return to the centre to receive supplemental feeding. The feeding area is set in a natural amphitheatre where it is possible to observe the orangutans coming down from the surrounding forest for the food provided. The rangers provide a
briefing on the purpose of the centre and the conservation objectives. Upon arrival your guide will point out any orangutan nests that can be seen from the path. After the briefing by the rangers you will walk along a short trail through the forest to the feeding platform. Sometimes the orangutan are already at the platform. On other days the rangers call out their names and the orangutan descend through the treesto grab a free meal. Return to hotel by 1100 hrs. Rest of the afternoon is free at leisure to discover the charms of historic Kuching. Overnight at The Pullman Hotel.

24th Sep. Bako National Park  (B, L)

0800 hrs pick up from hotel in Kuching. Bako National Park is situated on a peninsula on the coast and the departure point for trips to the park is Bako village, 35 minutes drive from Kuching. From the village, proceed by boat for approximately 25 minutes to the park headquarters. En route there is a chance to see crocodiles, sea eagles and other shore birds. Arrive at the park HQ and begin exploring the trails and searching for wildlife. Return to Kuching mid-afternoon. Overnight at
Pullman Kuching Hotel.

After early breakfast, meet and transfer to Kuching airport for flight by Air Asia 1773 (Dep 0805, Arr 0935).
