Sepilok Wildlife 2D1N

Pick up from Sandakan airport / hotel and visit the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary where captive orangutans are reintroduced into the wild. You will be able to observe them at their feeding stations in the rainforest and at the nursery (if open). Watch the feeding session at 1000 hours. 1030 hours proceed to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC). This centre rescues captured sun bears and is involved in sun bear conservation, welfare rehabilitation and education. Over 30 sun bears live at the centre in the bear house and outdoor enclosures. 11.45 hours depart the BSBCC and have lunch MY Nature Resort.

After lunch depart MY Nature Resort and proceed to Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary. This privately run sanctuary is located within an oil palm estate and offers a unique chance to see proboscis monkeys. These monkeys are wild but habituated and often get very close to visitors. The proboscis monkeys at Labuk Bay live in a fragmented habitat surrounded by an oil palm plantation. As there is insufficient food the monkeys receive a supplementary diet. The afternoon feeding time commences at 1430 hours when groups of proboscis monkeys from the nearby forest and mangroves and head to the wooden platform for a free meal. Labuk Bay offers a unique opportunity to get close to these normally shy creatures.  Silver leaf monkeys and hornbills are also sometimes seen at Labuk Bay. 1530 hours depart Labuk Bay and return to MY Nature Resort arriving around 1630-1700 hours.

Red giant flying squirrels are resident within the grounds of MY Nature Resort. They come out almost every night but sightings are not guaranteed.   Head to the platform near the restaurant before 1800 hours. Resort staff will point out which trees the squirrels sleep in and let you know when they start to come out of their hiding places. If you are lucky watch the giant squirrels emerge from their nests and glide across the sky. Dinner and overnight at MY Nature Resort.

Note: Red giant flying squirrels are also resident within the grounds of MY Nature Resort. The come out almost every night but sightings are not guaranteed. They usually emerge from the nests between 1830 and 1900 hours. If you prefer a more relaxing flying squirrel experience you can opt to stay at the resort instead of going to the RDC canopy walkway.

Breakfast at the lodge. Free at leisure to explore the the nearby Rainforest Discovery Centre on your own or relax by the pool. Lunch at the resort. Check out and transfer to the airport.
